This year would have been the 22nd year that The Beach House Restaurant put on it’s spectacular fireworks show. Thousands of people usually come from far and wide, vacationers and Floridians alike.
Unfortunately for everyone that would have come this year, the fireworks have been canceled at The Beach House Restaurant. But wait! There is a very good reason, and everyone that hears about it seems to be happy. Yes, happy.
The fireworks are canceled because there are some rare nesting birds on the beach by the restaurant. Awe, who could be upset when this is the reason? We all applaud Ed Chiles, the owner (he also owns The Sandbar in Anna Maria and Mar Vista on Longboat Key) for making this decision and putting nature first.
Nature is very important on Anna Maria Island. Residents and visitors alike appreciate all that Anna Maria offers with its beautiful beaches, mangroves and wild life. Nobody begrudges this selfless decision.
But where can you go to celebrate then? Not to worry, there are plenty of other places to go. The list is extensive, but there are 2 places either on or near the island on July 4th. The Sandbar Restaurant at 100 Spring Ave. will hold their 29th annual fireworks display after dark, and there will be a fireworks display over the Manatee River, gather by the Riverwalk in either Bradenton or Palmetto.
If you’re looking for July 4th celebrations during the day, you don’t want to miss the annual July 4th parade by The privateers. It starts at 10:00 am at Coquina Beach and travels the entire length of the island, ending at Bay Front Park in Anna Maria. It’s tons of fun for the whole family.
Whatever you decide to do, stay safe, have fun and enjoy yourselves!
